An important segment of our work involves prototype development.
Our expertise helps many customers develop quality parts in
rapid fashion without tooling. Our programmers are capable
of starting with a hand-filed template or un-dimensioned mylar
when dimensioned prints are unavailable. This process involves
electronic digitizing of the estimated part dimensions. Once
digitized, we can enter the part specifications into our Computer
Aided Design (CAD) / Computer Aided Machining (CAM) system.
The CAD/CAM data is then transmitted directly to our laser
processing machines. We typically produce a trial part based
on the preliminary design. This trial part gives the customer
a chance to assess the component's design characteristics
before production begins. Any changes at this point are accomplished
easily on the CAD/CAM system. The entire process is streamlined
through direct customer-to-programmer access.
LSI’s integration with the new CATIA based CENIT FastTRIM/LaserCUT
software significantly reduces overall programming and process
time. Customers utilize this service to improve “turnaround
time” and reduce the number of edits resulting
from scribed templates. LSI’s highly
skilled staff have developed a process to effectively design
and build uniquely engineered steel egg crate fixtures to
ensure quality part reruns. Our CAD Department accepts computer
data in CATIA V4 & V5, IGES, DXF, DWG, STEP
and STL format.
